Presencing the Lunar Eclipse

Mars on steroids

As we are deep in the portal time, while Mercury is retrograde (Feb 26 - Mar 20), this eclipse brings in completions and clearings. We may be having new insights into our purpose and our healing journey . . . but take it slow. No rushing. No pushing.

This eclipse wants to be felt and experienced, deeply and internally.

Meanwhile, the world goes on, and the powers that be are doing everything they can to keep us from awakening. Threatening us, bombing us, coming into our homes and taking us to concentration camps, taking our money, taking away resources. Everything they can to stay in power. It is not easy to sustain our health, maintain balance, and keep up the joy. And . . . that is the most threatening thing of all to them. Raw, unadulterated joy. For those whom these threats are no longer threats but actualities, my heart goes out to you. For the rest of us, in whatever way we can, we are stepping into the gaps so that a continuous line of support encircles the globe.

If it is time for you to plug in, demonstrate, hand out coats, block agents, write letters, make calls, boycott, then find the truth of that movement inside you, so that even in the efforting, there is calm inner-ease. This is the new way.

During times of intense stress, like the one we are in, spiritual practices, mantras, and meditation are such important tools. We are opening a portal into August. The arising of dictators and wars may get some traction in these months, but leaders who no longer have the support of the people may find themselves cast out in August. The declaration of war without due process in the US is another breach in a time of breaches. This one may break something that cracks open a way forward. I imagine resistance—ineffective at first—but growing over the Spring into Summer. The energy in August is even more intense than now.

This lunar eclipse is a Blood Red eclipse, that even intensifies what is happening. One of the intense things about these eclipses is the activation by Mars. A Vedic principle around eclipses is that the effects, particularly the most difficult effects of an eclipse happen when a malefic, either Mars or Saturn, transits the eclipse point. Mars stirs up wars and violence. Saturn brings on depression and lack. Mars entered the field (Vedic house) of the eclipses on Feb 23 and will be there til Apr 2. Its exact conjunctions, in Tropical, aka Western degrees, are:

• Mars conjunct Solar Eclipse point at 29 Aquarius on Feb 28

• Mars conjunct the North Node at 09 Pisces on Mar 14

• Mars conjunct Lunar Eclipse point at 13 Pisces on Mar 19

These are the intense moments during this eclipse time. Mars acts fast and intensely. Eclipses effect different places differently. The country chart matters.

The Solar Eclipse was right on the Moon for the USA 1776 chart and on Mars for the USA Constitution, emotionally triggering a nation already in distress. Add a transiting Mars into the picture and tensions are high. The Lunar Eclipse is right on the Sun of the US Constitution chart, suggesting more Supreme Court drama, and deeper issues regarding the laws of the land. Pay attention to events around March 19th, when Mars hits the Lunar Eclipse point, and when Mercury goes direct, suggesting some powerful changes within the US.

The 1979 chart is often used for Iran since it marks the beginning of the theocracy, the installation of Khomeini, and the end of a revolution. There are no strong indicators that these eclipses would be particularly invasive to the country. The nodes are close to the nodes and Mars is in Pisces, but even in the Vedic, these are weak indicators.

In 1989, Iran changed their constitution, adding amendments that eliminated the Prime Minister position and strengthened the power of the Ayatollah, moving the country deeper into autocracy. Not only is this a much more powerful chart with Sun and Mercury at the Power place, and Pluto at the Justice place, but the Solar Eclipse landed within 3 degrees of Iran’s Mars and Nodes. While the Lunar Eclipse is not as intense, Mars is still actively opposing Mars, actively changing the dynamics within the country. The Lunar Eclipse will be close to Venus, and opening a new way forward, even if it takes time and even while chaos lasts through the eclipse portal (til Mar 20.)

The Lunar Eclipse will also be triggering the Nodes (soul) and Saturn (stability) of the 1979 chart, suggesting further challenges for the theocratic leadership.

You may notice that Iran’s and Israel’s Mars are conjunct and opposing the Mars of the US. With Mars on steroids (triggering the eclipses), blood boils and fighting words lead to fighting actions. The one good things about Mars is that he doesn’t have much staying power. Short burst of aggression are Mars’ forte. The wake of destruction left behind is for others to take care of. These bombings are leading to more chaos and beginnings. The Saturn-Neptune conjunction in Aries has started something new, and the old guard is feeling very threatened.

Hezbollah declared its existence with a manifesto on Feb 16, 1985, even though it had been forming since 1982. With the Sun and Mercury at the Solar Eclipse point, these attacks are likely hitting Hezbollah the hardest—right at the very heart of their existence. The Solar Eclipse point squares Lebanon’s Sun, which is also challenging. The Lunar Eclipse will be on Lebanon’s Chiron, suggesting fallout and wounding as the fighting goes on.

Countries that may be affected more by the Lunar Eclipse are Brazil (Sun at 15 Virgo), Vietnam (Sun at 09 Virgo), and Hungary (Moon near 13 Pisces).

Gratitude

I feel so fortunate to be out in the Arizona desert for this month, retreating with friends, and being able to see the stars. Living in the Northwest so often the stars are obscured by clouds. Now I can see the bright Venus as she sets. Jupiter, as he aligns with Sirius, the birth-star of humanity. The Moon as she brightens.
